Sons of Midnight Sun

During my last trip to Finland, I was so lucky to meet some new friends there, like Jyry Nissilä and I have heard for the first time of this beautiful work composed for wind orchestra. So together Jyri it was decided to try to perform it in Italy, with the band where I play, envolving also the choir of our town.

This is the result, under the conduction of Jyri. We have tried to do all our best.

My short visit to Hämeenlinna

I had a chance to go there on last November for a very short visit to meet my friends Margit and Ari in Hämeenlinna . It was cold and snow, but landscapes were really marvellous.

A beautiful natural area around the lake and such a great emotion having the possibility to visit the house where Sibelius was born.

In the first picture of the sequence it is possible to see the train station.

For me it was really a great feeling to visit the place where Sibelius was born and being in front of pictures of his family I have seen many times just on the books or being in front of manuscript of "Finlandia" (the musica composition).

A soft piano music (beautiful) accompanies the visitor.

Jean Sibelius 150th Aniversary, Andante Festivo, Ostrobothian Chamber Or...

Andante Festivo is one of my favourite works by Sibelius.. I know, it is a little, short piece, but so beauty, nice. and lovely.  I used it, in a brass arrangement, at my wedding, at the beginning, for the incoming of the bride.
If you listen to the version conducted by Sibelius (the only audio document you can find of Sibelius as conductor), you will find that he choosed a very slow tempo, more similar to an adagio or largo than to an Andante.

Here you can find more complete info about this work.
